The Blazers hit the road for our second tournament of the summer, this time traveling to Mason City, Iowa. Coach Loney's old college teammate Garrett Callahan organized the tournament at North Iowa Area Community College. This was the second year for Freedom Hoops to participate in the tournament.
The Blazers started off Saturday, May 20 by beating Charles City, Iowa 40-34. After a short break, they hit the court again, this time losing to Iowa Ambush 50-42. To close out a busy night, they dropped a game to the Quad City Blue Raiders 50-44. They finished off the tournament on Sunday morning, taking down the Illinois Ambush in a nailbiter, 54-53.

In our first game Saturday, we took down ABA Supreme with a convincing score of 79-25. We followed that performance with a 46-31 win over the Dominators. To celebrate the first two victories, we went to Golden Corral and had dinner together. With only four teams in our division, our final game Sunday decided the championship of the tournament. We handled the Top City Lakers easily outscoring them 61-22. The guys were presented with medals and a trophy after the last game. It was a great way to kick off the summer! |
